biography
In 2011 Sarah embarked on a long held ambition to train formally, with a view to continuing her education at postgraduate level in order to develop further her practice.
Sarah's time-based media art practice has combined the trans-disciplinary practices of Dirty New Media with philosophy by disrupting the materiality of analogue and digital systems in order to find the sensuous, embodied tropes that resonate with early feminist arguments regarding the re-conceptualisation of sensual/sexualised embodiment: from poetics to aesthetics to the political. Sarah's work is centred in new media, film, video, photography and installation, exploring aspects of being, language and engagement.
Sarah's previous career afforded her the opportunity to develop and work with social enterprises and funding bodies, managing social care based community projects and facilitating social and organisational change through education and provision and maintenance of communication platforms.
She is currently a Research Fellow with the Centre for Fine Art Research (CFAR) hosted at Birmingham School of Art and led by Prof Johnny Golding. She is also a member of Vivid Projects' Black Hole Club and Warwickshire College's Fine Art Alumni Association, an art collective dedicated to developing, critically engaging and showing work post-education. She was awarded a prestigious AHRC Doctoral Training Award for PhD study at Birmingham City University, commencing in October 2016.
